Poor electricity supply, water, security and high cost of living have been identified as the major challenges affecting teaching and learning in the country.

The Vice Chancellor of Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu, Rev. Fr Professor Christian Anieke made the observation recently during a special interview on the Nigeria Television Authority.

Correspondent Godwin Umeh monitored the discussion and now reports.

The interview covered such areas as education, security, peace, investment and human behavior.

Rev. Fr. Prof. Anieke said lack of fund is a major setback in the conduct of research in the country.

The Vice Chancellor stressed the need for the control of the nation’s population and for the people to have children they can cater for.

Rev. Fr. Professor Anieke explained that the hosting of annual peace conference was to promote peace in Nigeria.

The Vice Chancellor noted that the university’s community radio, GOUNI Radio 106.9FM, Enugu had played commendable roles in the training of future media practitioners and promotion of education.

Rev. Fr. Professor Anieke urged the media to uphold the truth always and continue to help the government transform the society.
